13 new Sprites are live in v42.20 — and 29 more are waiting in the files

The v42.20 update landed this morning at 3 AM PT / 6 AM ET, and it brought three brand-new Sprite powers to Chapter 7 Season 4: Crash Bandicoot, Blinky, and Pond. Each one shipped with its full Gold, Loot Hacker, and Cheat Master set, which puts twelve new entries in the catalog on day one — thirteen if you count the Bounty Hunter Crown, and you should.
That is not the whole drop. Forty-two new Sprites went into the game files with this patch. The other twenty-nine unlock over the next ten days.
Live right now
Crash Bandicoot — Legendary. Jump in the air to trigger a whirlwind attack, damaging and knocking back nearby enemies. Damage increases and cooldown decreases with each Level Up.
Blinky — Legendary. Taking damage cloaks you for a short time, making you harder to spot. Cloak duration increases with each Level Up.
Pond — Epic. Jump shortly after landing to trigger a Super Jump, if charges are present. Charges return over time, and the jump gets stronger and the cooldown shorter with each Level Up. This one is a Design-A-Sprite contest winner, from Pine & Kiri.
And the nine variants, all Special rarity:
- Gold Crash Bandicoot, Loot Hacker Crash Bandicoot, Cheat Master Crash Bandicoot
- Gold Blinky, Loot Hacker Blinky, Cheat Master Blinky
- Gold Pond, Loot Hacker Pond, Cheat Master Pond
The Bounty Hunter Crown
One more Special went live today, and it is the odd one out. You cannot pull the Bounty Hunter Crown from a Cheat Code. You have to master the Loot Hacker Crown first by winning a match with it, and only then is the Bounty Hunter version reachable.
Treat it as the tutorial for what arrives next Thursday.
Still locked
Bounty Hunter variants — Thursday, September 24. Around twenty of them, and they are combat Sprites in the literal sense: they only have a chance to appear when you eliminate an opponent, and they level up from eliminations and nothing else. No chest farming your way through this tier.
Birthday Sprite — Saturday, September 26. Chests have a chance to serve up slices of cake when opened, and at max Sprite Level, elims can too.
Morgana — in the files, dated by nobody. The Persona Sprite improves healing item effectiveness as it levels, and there is a Bounty Hunter Morgana sitting alongside it. Epic gave it no date in the patch notes, so treat any specific day you see quoted as a guess.
Two caveats worth knowing. Unreleased entries do not have confirmed rarities yet, and Epic has slipped Sprite unlocks before — the fourteen Loot Hackers from September 3 sat greyed out for a full week before they went live.
Cheat Codes got a lot friendlier
Quiet change, biggest one in the patch for collectors:
- Sprites of any rarity can now come out of any Rare (blue) or Epic (purple) Cheat Code.
- Epic Cheat Codes have a significantly better chance of producing a variant.
- Legendary Cheat Codes now guarantee a variant Sprite, weighted toward higher rarities.
- There is a pity system. The longer you go without finding a new Sprite, the better your odds of pulling a variant you do not already own.
If you have been sitting on Legendary codes waiting for a reason, this is the reason.
Two new mastery rewards
Extract 30 Sprites for the Pixel Sprite Trainer Back Bling. Master 70 for the Pixel Polli Outfit, which has an extra pixelated Style coming later. Mastering a Sprite also halves the Sprite Dust needed to summon it, which is the part people forget.
Where to track them
All thirteen are in the catalog now with artwork and full cards. Mark them Missing, Collected, or Mastered from the site or with the Discord commands, and the locked entries will light up here as they unlock.
