Birthday Power Hours today — the Birthday Sprite arrives across two three-hour windows

Battle Royale turns nine today, and Epic is celebrating the way this season celebrates everything: with Power Hours. Two sessions run today, Saturday, September 26, and they are the longest we have had — three hours each instead of the usual two.
They are also the debut of the last Sprite from the v42.20 files. The Birthday Sprite arrives with the event, and with it the five-card Birthday set.
When the Power Hours run
Each session runs three hours. Session 2 lands on September 27 in a lot of regions, so check your row before you plan around it.

What's in the event
- The Birthday Sprite — equip one and Chests can serve up slices of cake
- Presents — everyone drops in with them
- The Exotic Balloon Popper Assault Rifle — out in the wild for the length of each window
- 1-Up Tokens and Portable Extractors in Chests, on top of the usual loot
The Birthday set
Birthday — Rare. Opening Chests has a chance to spawn a slice of cake, and the chance goes up with each Level Up. At max Sprite Level, eliminations can spawn cake too.
And the four variants, all Special rarity:
- Gold Birthday, Cheat Master Birthday, Loot Hacker Birthday, Bounty Hunter Birthday
Bounty Hunter Birthday follows the rules from Thursday's post: it only levels from eliminations. That makes it a strange fit for a Sprite whose whole power is opening Chests, but it does mean the max-level cake-on-elim bonus is the one you will be working toward from the start.
On paper this is a small power. In practice it is free heals for doing what you were already going to do.
How to play the windows
Open Chests early and often. It is the one habit that pays off three ways today: it levels the Birthday Sprite's cake chance, it is where the 1-Up Tokens and Portable Extractors are hiding, and Extractors are what turn a Sprite you found into a Sprite you keep.
If you are also working through the birthday quests, one of them asks you to eat cake slices at Named Locations. An equipped Birthday Sprite and a Named Location full of Chests takes care of that on the way.
Three hours is a long window, so there is no need to rush the first drop. If you only have time for one session, Session 2 is usually the quieter of the two in North America — fewer contested drops, same event.
Tracking and trading them
Mark your pulls as you go in the Sprite Tracker so you know which of the five you still need before the second window opens, and post your spares on the trade board. With Birthday done, every Sprite from the v42.20 files is now live.
Happy birthday, Battle Royale. Good luck out there.
