Sprite trading etiquette

Structured trades remove the ambiguity from trading — but the structure works best when both sides use it well. A few habits make you the counterparty people say yes to.

Before you propose

  • Check their collection first. Offers are built from live collections, so you can only ask for what they own — but take a moment to offer something they're actually missing, not a duplicate of what they have.
  • Read the profile. Public profiles carry trust signals from real trade history — completed, defaulted, and expired counts written by the trade lifecycle itself. A long completed streak means something; so does a pile of defaults. Use the signal, and remember your own profile is accumulating one too.

While a trade is open

  • Respond in good time. Offers carry deadlines and expire on their own — but letting an offer time out that you never intended to take is worse than a quick decline. Declining is a normal, drama-free part of the lifecycle — a quick no keeps the board honest.
  • Meet up promptly after accepting. Acceptance exchanges your Fortnite gamer tags privately between the two of you — that's your cue to arrange the in-game exchange. The trade isn't done until BOTH sides confirm completion, so confirm as soon as the Sprites have changed hands; completed trades add the received Sprite to your collection automatically.
  • Cancel honestly. Plans change. Cancelling before acceptance is clean and costless — silently abandoning an accepted trade is what the expired/defaulted counters exist to record.

When something goes wrong

Disputes are a record, not a weapon. If a completed or active trade went bad, flag it — it's stored on the trade and visible to your server's staff, who have their own moderation and ban tools. For anything bigger, open a support ticket. What disputes are NOT for: pressuring someone who simply declined your offer.

Wanted ads and gifts

  • Keep your ads current. A Wanted ad lists Sprites you need; close it when you've got them. Stale ads waste responders' time — and your open slots (you have a limited number).
  • Gifts still need a yes. A gift asks nothing in return, but the recipient has to accept it — don't take an unanswered gift personally.
